What if there is an error on my credit report?
If you see an error on your report, to rectify it, you must contact the credit bureau/s directly. The three major bureaus in the U.S. can be contacted via their websites:
Equifax (www.equifax.com)
Trans Union (www.transunion.com)
Experian (www.experian.com)
They each have procedures for correcting information promptly. Alternatively, we as your Denver based mortgage company may help you correct this problem as well. This process takes time, must be done in writing, and may require proof depending on the nature of the error.
Your credit report will indicate which bureau or bureaus are reporting the erroneous information and you must contact each bureau separately.
